Q: Where do American kids learn how to swim in the US?
A: I suppose it depends on where you live. In areas where many people have backyard pools, it’s more common to take swimming lessons. My son’s elementary school took the kids to the pool for one week for very, VERY basic swimming lessons each year, but it’s not common for a public school to do this. In general, most people learn to swim from their family.
