Q: Have the lives of people in the US gone back to normal since the pandemic ended?
A: I suppose so, but “normal” doesn’t look the same as it did before. Many companies have decided to permanently allow various positions to work remotely, while others have downsized considerably. Additionally, many workers are still displaced, as the places they worked for before went out of business.
Many people are still hesitant to enter crowded spaces, and a lot of events have been permanently moved to outdoor settings.
I think the biggest problem is that many people (especially students) have developed anxiety or depression during the pandemic, but since we lack national healthcare, people are not being treated for their mental health. I think there will be long-term costs to our society because of this.
