In the US, taxi drivers are notorious for ripping off customers – especially tourists. They take a long route on purpose, in order to overcharge the customer. In my personal experience, most taxi drivers are rude and unwilling to help in any way. Taxis also tend to be extremely expensive, especially if you need to take one to or from the airport.
